Eligibility is about household and property
Applicants must be 65 or older, or have a doctor-certified physical disability preventing clearing, and have no able-bodied person younger than 65 living in the home. Provide age proof or the required doctor’s certificate. Temporary-disability applicants need a certificate each enrollment year.
The property must be an occupied single-family dwelling in an urban residential area fronting a municipal street. Businesses, farms, condominiums, vacant homes and land are excluded.

Service thresholds and exclusions
Sidewalk service starts within 24 hours after snowfall ends only when accumulation exceeds 7.5 cm. Windrow service starts after municipal-road plowing finishes only when snowfall exceeds 15 cm. These are different triggers.
Work covers adjacent municipal sidewalks and up to about one metre of driveway apron, not the rest of the driveway or private walkways. Below the triggers or between visits, the resident remains responsible for clearing and grit. No ongoing salt or sand service is provided outside the clearing visit.

Apply through the correct recreation route
Returning participants can apply and pay through their Be Active account, except temporary-disability participants. New and temporary-disability applicants must visit one of five listed recreation facilities with eligibility proof and payment. Call 905-623-3379 before visiting to ensure staff can help.
Do not register at Town Hall. Use communityservices@clarington.net for eligibility or application questions and operations@clarington.net or extension 2661 for operational issues. Weather can delay service, so frequent travellers should arrange backup access.
