Caregiver ratios and swim tests
Children five and younger need one caregiver for every two children. If any child in the group is five or younger, the two-to-one group ratio applies regardless of the others’ ages. The ordinary six-to-nine ratio is four children to one caregiver.
An always-accompanying caregiver must be at least 14, in swim attire and within arm’s reach in and out of the water. The source gives an exception for eight- or nine-year-olds who pass the test and receive a facility test card. Six- and seven-year-olds test each visit and their guardian remains in the pool. Ask staff before relying on an exception.

Fees and swim choices
The 2026 drop-in fees before applicable tax are adult $4.52, youth four to 17 $3.50, senior 55+ $3.50, or $11.25 for a group of five with no more than two adults. The listed adult category is 18 to 54.
Lane swimming requires continuous lengths in the designated lane speeds. Adapted swimming welcomes disabled participants, families and a free caregiver. Quiet Swim keeps features off and minimizes noise. The seasonal Orono outdoor pool operates July and August; the main indoor locations use current schedules.

Equipment, slides and privacy
Deep-end use for swimmers under 16 requires a facility test. Courtice’s slide requires passing that test; Diane Hamre’s slide requires height 48 inches. Ordinary recreation swims do not allow fins, flippers, paddles, inflatables or mermaid tails.
Use appropriate clean swimwear and swim diapers where needed. Regular diapers, jeans and loose clothing are not allowed. Phones and recording devices are prohibited in changerooms, washrooms and on the deck. Viewing-area photos need customer-service permission. Drop-in teaching or coaching is only by municipal swim staff.
